One of the wedding venues here in Lubbock that I get to photograph at often is the Willows – and I absolutely love this emerald and white wedding from Summer 2022! Emily and Tanner were so kind and throughout the day were so thankful to be able to celebrate their love with their guests.
They opted for a shorter wedding day and I arrived about an hour and a half before the ceremony. Once I arrived I began photographing Emily and Tanner’s beautiful details. In West Texas, especially during the summer – we do not get much rain but we were supposed to get rain this day. Keeping this in mind I wanted to get the photos of the details done outside before any rain started and then not long after that it was time for Emily to start getting dressed.
Emily’s dress was simply phenomenal. She wore a gown originally purchased from Davids’s Bridal however Emily’s mother was able to customize and fit the gown so that it was exactly what Emily wanted. It featured a sweetheart neckline, 3D flowers, and off-the-shoulder (detachable) sleeves. The flower girl’s gown also perfectly matched her dress! Once the dress was on it was time for some final touchups and then it was time for the ceremony!
A reason I love weddings at the Willows is that you really do not have to do much with decorating the ceremony space- the courtyard is naturally beautiful and you only need to add some florals or greenery to/or near your arbor to make it look perfect! Emily and Tanner opted for the circle arbor that the Willows offers and they had the florist All that blooms completely cover the arbor in beautiful greenery. It was simple yet so sophisticated – completely perfect for the vision that Emily had for the day. Emily and Tanner’s ceremony was beautiful!
After the ceremony, we immediately started taking portraits. With the possibility of rain, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity for bride and groom portraits in the garden. As we were taking their bride and groom portraits I asked them where they were planning to go for their honeymoon and I was surprised when I heard they were going to Vegas. It is one of their favorite places and said they would give me all the tips and tricks for when I finally go!
Once we were done with photos then we went back downstairs to the reception space and they were introduced. They shared a moment to cut their wedding cake and we listened to some wedding speeches before heading back outside to the courtyard for their first dance under the lights.
As the night was ending the DJ announced it was time for the guests to head upstairs to wait for the sparkler exit as Emily and Tanner had their last dance. Once the dance finished they walked up the stairs and had their sparkler exit. Before leaving though they turned around and addressed their guests one last time and thanked them for being there. It was truly a special moment.
I hope you enjoy these photos and I am so thankful that I am able to document these moments for so many. A special thank you to Emily and Tanner for allowing me to spend such an important day with you.
